Acknowledgement of Country

Walcom Ngarrwa Secondary College acknowledge the Wadawurrung people as the traditional custodians of the land on which we live, work and learn. We pay our respects to the Elders, past, present and emerging for they hold the memories, traditions culture and hope for their people. We extend this respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Walcom Ngarrwa comes from the Wadawurrung language and means 'steps towards knowledge'. Throughout our college, there are many connections to the Wadawurrung culture and language visible throughout our grounds. Our outdoor furniture has language embossed into it and our shade covers have etchings of animals that are native to the area. These remind us daily that the land on which we work and learn belongs to a culture that extends back millennia and recognise our role in continuing to educate future generations.
