The further we progress through the year, the more ‘firsts’ we tick off for our college.
The past week saw another major ‘first’, with our Year 7 students heading off to camp at Lady Northcote Discovery Camp. The two nights away saw the very best of our amazing young people, as they connected and cooperated their way through a range of activities that challenged them physically and mentally. These activities cannot happen without an incredible amount of work, both in the lead up and on camp itself.
A huge thank you goes out to all the staff who attended: Hamish Reilly, Faye Sutton, TeKani Perry, Jess McCartney, James Antonic, Sawan, Kelly Davis, Mark Johnston, Susie Blake and Tenealle Hawke and Mieleah Reichelt, ably supported by Maria Babelja on Tuesday. In particular, Tenealle Hawke deserves recognition for her immense work on organising and arranging the camp for our students. This would not have happened without her dedication.
For those students who were unable to attend, there was a fantastic program running at school. The consistent attendance of students speaks to the fun and engaging activities that were organised. Thank you to Josh Vassallo and Tahnee Curtain for their commitment and flexibility over the three days.
Week 4 will bring another major milestone, with the handover of our third major building due to take place. This means we have all of our permanent buildings for the first stage of our build and will allow us to host larger indoor events in the future.
The following week will also bring Education Week, with a celebration of public education in Australia. A focus on STEM in education will be celebrated with activities across the week, making the most of our fantastic new facilities and resources. Another round of progress reports will be coming, along with learning task results appearing in Compass, which will provide another opportunity to families to reflect on their child’s progress. If a camp is any indication, I’m sure our families will be impressed with the growth being made by these fantastic young people.
We are expecting the final delivery of our 3rd building this coming week, with our long-awaited Pavilion being handed over by the builders.
This fantastic facility will give our growing school some wonderful new spaces including:
Not only will this be a fabulous addition to our school day, it will also enable us to further connect with our community. A number of organisations have already reached out to us about using these spaces outside of school hours, and we are excited to bring more of our community into our college.
We look forward to inviting you to see this wonderful new facility in the near future.%201.jpg)

On Monday the 22nd of April, our Year 7 Girls Netball team competed at the Wyndham region School Sport Victoria Netball tournament. Our girls team was well represented. Our students played 3 games against quality opposition schools.
The girls played brilliantly across all three of their games, finishing the day with a well-played victory against Al Taqwa College. A big 'shout out' to Maddi Korttinen of 7E for taking the role of player-coach for the day, well done Maddi!
Wyndham Youth Services
Tuesday the 1st of May, our Student Leadership Team attended the Wyndham Youth Services Student Representative Council forum. The forum is an opportunity for Wyndham schools to come together, collaborate on important issues affecting youth in the Wyndham region and plan strategic, preventative projects to battle 'big issues' in each of our schools.
Our Student Leadership Team had a wonderful day, Mahir even ate a whole, dry Weetbix and won a challenge! We look forward to the next forum date on the 21st of May, and planning our Belonging activities for our Year 7 cohort.

Non-Camp Attendee Program
Although the majority of our students and staff attended our Inaugural College camp, which was a resounding success, we had 48 students and staff at the College completing an alternative program. Students completed several fun and enjoyable activities that promoted effective collaboration and communication skills.
Students began the program with a Zombie apocalypse STEAM project, creating safe and applicable items to survive a potential world-ending apocalypse. Our College also ran a Geo-Cache treasure hunt, and utilised our Wonderful Food Technology labs for the first time, making chocolate truffle balls!
A HUGE thank you to our staff who ran this alternative program for our non-camp attendees. It was a wonderful opportunity to explore our Learning Mindsets and College facilities further!

Hi, I’m Hendrix and I was a part of the first ever Walcom Ngarrwa school camp. Less than an hour away from Melbourne was Lady Northcote Discovery Camp. Me and many other students attended this camp for 3 days from Monday to Wednesday. Lady Northcote was filled with many fun activities such as, the giant swing, bike riding, risky kids, survivor and more. After many fun days and games, everyone who attended had a great and fun time. One last thing before I go, I would like to make a quick thank you to all the staff who came to camp with us, making sure every one of us students had a great time. Thanks for listening.
